How we gather

Throughout the year, our community comes together in a mix of virtual and face-to-face gatherings to explore what matters most in the second half of life. These conversations are grounded in deep listening, mutual respect, and the belief that wisdom already lives in the room.

Each gathering is guided by trusted Second 50 women and shaped by what participants bring — evolving in response to where women are right now, rather than following a fixed agenda.

Some sessions are recorded and available on demand for members. Others are intentionally live and unrecorded, creating space for presence, honesty, and the kind of connection that can only happen when we meet each other in the moment.

Second 50 members receive regular updates, invitations (and opportunities to lead) inside the community.

Second 50 gatherings grow out of a simple idea

Many midlife women are seeking more authentic connection, meaningful learning, and ways to continue contributing their experience and wisdom.

What’s emerged is a quiet but deeply active ecosystem of conversations, forums, and shared experiences — most of it happening beneath the surface, in small groups, at a pace that allows people to arrive as they are.

Here are a few of the ways women come together inside the community:

Thoughtful Conversations on Zoom

Throughout the year, members gather online for live conversations led by generous expert women from within the community. Some sessions focus on guidance, learning and practical tools; others create space for shared reflection, peer wisdom and possibility-building. Many are recorded and shared on demand for members.

Small-Group Forums & Circles

Much of the real magic in Second 50 happens in smaller, opt-in spaces — connection circles, peer groups and focused forums where women explore ideas, challenges and transitions together. These spaces are intentionally low-noise and high-trust.

Possibility-Building Spaces

For women who are evolving, creating or re-imagining what comes next, we host forums designed to offer encouragement, feedback and accountability.
These gatherings support women to think out loud, test ideas and take small but meaningful steps forward — together.

Local Meetups & Face-to-Face Connection

Second 50 connections also move from screen to real life. From time to time, members gather locally — for coffee, conversation, workshops, and shared experiences — often sparked by one or two women simply opening the door and inviting others in. These meetups are informal and welcoming, shaped by curiosity, mutual support, and the understanding that no one has to have it all figured out to belong.

Member-Led, Community-Shaped

Second 50 gatherings are rarely top-down. Many begin with a question, an idea, or a willingness to share what they know — and evolve through collaboration with others who care about the same things.

A Gentle Invitation…

You don’t need to attend everything — or anything — to belong. Some women participate quietly. Others jump right in. Most Second 50 women move in and out as their life allows.

Members receive invitations and updates inside the community — and choose what fits their energy, interests and what’s possible, relevant and most helpful to them at this time of life.

Women Stepping Up

The Possibilities Lab

The Possibilities Lab grew from women wanting space to think out loud, test ideas, and imagine what might be next. It is a practical, collaborative space and monthly Zoom circle where curiosity is encouraged, experience is valued, and ideas are shaped collectively — without pressure to have a polished plan.

Led by mindset and business coach, entrepreneur and strategic marketing leader, Karen Robertson.

Second 50 Life Design

Second 50 Life Design emerged from members loving the generous guidance that coach, author and life design expert Gill McLaren has so generously gifted to us. We have run live sessions, in-person-workshops, and multi-week hybrid programs with so many women already benefiting from pausing with Gill to reflect, make intentional choices, and design a future that feels aligned, energising, and uniquely their own.

This Second 50 co-creation is helping Gill’s legacy project to make Life Design and her amazing Think.Plan.Live. methodology accessible to more people everywhere.

Courageous Conversations

Courageous Conversations for Second 50 Women is a one-day workshop offering a chance for Second 50 women to come together in Sydney for a practical and supportive day of learning and connection to build skills and build confidence in having conversations that matter — with compassion, honesty, and care.

Led by Helen Jarvis, Founder of Ripple Learning, women will learn and reflect alongside other women who understand this stage of life and have the opportunity to practise in ways that feel psychologically safe and supportive.
